Press Release

Monday August 16,2010 Press Release: Santa Elena Primary R.C. School launched a new program this past Saturday August 14, 2010 . The school has an enrollment of 1013 children and a staff of 38 teachers. Teachers enthusiastically gathered as they embarked on this new adventure. Research based instructional methods, Brain Based Instruction, Multiple Intelligences and Cooperative Learning models are but a few of the unique techniques they will be learning.
This program lends to the ‘Quality Schools’ initiative that Ministry of Education, (MOE) has embarked on. It provides much needed ongoing training for teachers to keep up with current international trends and our changing society. As the school makes progress towards being more ‘Child Friendly’, it will afford a unique learning experience for all students enrolled at the said school. Each child will be greeted September 1st with a highly trained team of teachers who will work together to ensure that every child get the best quality education ever.
The program is being facilitated by Mrs. Abigail Wade (NaRCIE , IRO for Cayo), under the management of Mr. Luis Carballo our Center Manager. It is in collaboration with a dynamic and creative educator and supporter of the development of education in our country, Dr. Jennifer Morrow. We are also networking with a number of stakeholders and partners, with the hope to adopt the M.O.R.E. Approach under the inspiration and blessing of Dr. Joyce Swarzman, who is Headmaster of Independent Day School – Corbett Campus in Tampa FL, a National Blue Ribbon Award winning school.
Alongside this program, a self-contained classroom will be opened to meet the needs of children with ‘Exceptional Learning Needs’. As we embrace “Inclusion” in a regular school setting all will benefit, not only these students, but also the general school population.
The progress of both programs can be viewed on our blog spot at http://santaelenaprimaryrcschool.blogspot.com/ and a web site for the school is currently under construction.

Quality Education For All !

Santa Elena Primary School will be embarking on a new venture effective August 14, 2010. Teachers will be trained in research based instructional methods, such as Brain Based Instruction, Multiple Intelligences and Cooperative Learning models. Strategies and techniques that will help successfully engage all learners, will produce measurable evidence of success via increased student achievement (test scores) and performance (behavioral improvements etc).

This program will lend to the ‘Quality Schools’ action plan, as well as provide the much needed on-going training for teachers to keep up with current international trends and the ever changing society. As the school makes progress towards being more ‘Child Friendly’, the teachers will also advance in honing their skills, and building teacher efficacy.

Alongside this initiative is the need to solicit funds to construct two self-contained classrooms for The Special Education Project at the Santa Elena Primary School Campus. We are looking at the immediate needs of students who have been identified, as well as the future development of a Special Education program that would afford these and future students, services until the age of 18. By providing a center, these children will benefit from invaluable one-on-one quality time with a teacher who has been specially trained. They will work at their own pace, in an environment that caters to their unique personal development.

It is my sincere hope that funds will be garnered to fund the construction of the classrooms . The program is being facilitated by the NaRCIE officer working out of the Cayo District Education Center,Mrs. Abigail Wade, under the management of Mr. Luis Carballo, our Center Manager. It is in collaboration with a dynamic and creative educator and supporter of the development of education in our country Dr. Jennifer Morrow. We are networking with a number of stakeholders and partners, with the hope to adopt the M.O.R.E. Approach under the inspiration and blessing of Dr. Joyce Swarzman, Headmaster of Independent Day School-Corbett Campus in Tampa, FL, a National Blue Ribbon Award winning school.
