The Family That Prays Together Stays Together!

Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a season for reflection and taking stock. Lent originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated themselves and when converts were instructed in the faith and prepared for baptism. By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days.

As we continue to observe the Lenten Season we encourage our children to attend mass on Sundays. This past Sunday we had invited all our children and in particular those involve in any form of sporting activities at our school. The response from the children was overwhelming.

  1. As one of the sports coordinators at Santa Elena Primary, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped us in any way with sports and otherwise. Our school is one of the largest schools (population) in this area but it is also a school which has children with many needs. It is always good to know that there are friends who find it in their hearts to help our kids. The teachers at Santa Elena Primary strive to provide a wholesome education for each child who passes through their hands. I am proud not only to be a member of staff but also a parent. The participation of our students in sports is of outmost importance because many of our children have very few opportunities, aside from being in groups within the classroom, to participate in extracurricular activities and be a part of a team. Our sports club provides our students an avenue to practice team-building, discipline, improve on self esteem, develop new friendships and is a positive way to release some of the extra energies which they have. Our society is plagued with many ills and it is our mission to mold positive contributing citizens through both academics and sports. We are extremely proud of our children. It is a fact that many of them face seemingly insurmountable challenges at their young age, but with God’s help, our efforts and the efforts of our community and friends like you who contribute to the cause, these children will succeed. We are in the third week of games for the Mundialito Football Tournament and our children are doing an excellent job representing themselves and our school. Only this past week both our girls and boys teams brought home the championship for a Football Marathon held in Bullet Tree. Our school is also looking forward to the Chess Olympiad coming up soon as well as the Track and field Tournament to be held next month. Again our gratitude goes out to all of you who have helped in any way no matter how big or small you might feel your contribution to be. Your contribution is priceless.
